    • Off Duty

      • Contrary to the ultra macho persona he gives off during work hours, Adrian’s favorite color is pink, something that’s reflected heavily in his wardrobe. He wears his hair in a mostly slicked back, loose pompadour and keeps his mustache well trimmed, as he takes great pride in his personal grooming.

    • On Duty

      • In his day-to-day work persona of Chief Schulte, Adrian wears the typical uniform of a police chief in the New Amsterdam Police Department. As the chief of the bureau of enhanced human affairs (NAPDBEHA, colloquially pronounced as the “napped beeha”), he does his best to keep his uniform impeccable so that he can set a good example for the rank and file under his command.

  • Goals

    • As the chief of the NAPDBEHA, Adrian’s primary goal in life is to make sure that Enhanced Human activity is monitored, supervised, and if needed, suppressed in order to keep the average citizen of New Amsterdam safe from the antics of those with superhuman abilities or involvement. This feeds into his other goal, which is just to provide and create a better life for his son, Ethan.

  • Inner Conflict

    • Adrian has a history of abandonment. Because his father got caught up in the affairs of an Enhanced Human by choice, he feels like his father abandoned him in favor of a life of crime that ultimately got him killed. As a result, he’s very torn about his boyfriend, Jacob White, being involved in the city as Captain Ultra. He feels like it’s only a matter of time until some criminal, be they superpowered or otherwise, puts an end to Jacob’s life. Furthermore, he’s destroyed by the fact that Jacob would rather kill himself than confide in him all the troubles he’s going through. Jacob’s death destroys Adrian, to the point of withdrawing from the larger family unit that he’s been included in with the Whites.

    • Before making any major decision, Adrian pulls out a locket that has pictures of Jacob and Ethan and fingers it. His response when asked about it is as follows:

      • “If I can’t look my boyfriend and son in the eyes after making a decision, then I made the wrong decision. I carry this to remind myself of them and to ask them to guide me to the right path.”

    • Adrian is an avid fan of DDR games and dancing in general, to the point of having a DDR machine at his and Jacob’s house in Taxan (the New Amsterdam equivalent of Manhattan).

  • Quick Bio

    • Born to Katherine and Ronald Schulte, Adrian Schulte was born in the early 1990’s in New Amsterdam and had a relatively carefree early childhood. However, his family fell upon hard times as Ronald lost his job at a software firm and eventually got involved with the gang of a size-altering super villain named simply Il Grande. Ronald kept it a secret for months before revealing his new “job” to his wife. Katherine turned to alcohol to cope with the stress of her husband being a thug for a supervillain, but kept the secret. Eventually, both Il Grande and Ronald Schulte died in a scuffle with Captain Ultra. To explain his father’s absence, Katherine only told Adrian that his father abandoned the family. So from the age of five onward, Adrian grew up with the belief that his father had abandoned him. As an alcoholic, Katherine frequently turned violent, forcing Adrian to escape into the world of detective mysteries, both televised and written, and eventually resolved to do his own detective work to find his missing father. After sneaking out nearly every night for four years. On discovering her son’s nightly escapades, Katherine eventually revealed the truth to Adrian on his twelfth birthday, but made a pact with him that if he stayed curious, got his grades up, and continued to foster his love of investigations, she would stop drinking. Both parties held up their ends of the bargain and Adrian graduated top of his class with a criminal justice degree from the University of New Amsterdam (NAU) and graduated top of his class in the New Amsterdam Police Academy. He rose through the ranks relatively quickly and became a detective in the 27th Precinct in Lusden by the age of 27. After a few years on the job, he met a promising young lawyer by the name of Janet White. The two dated for a few years, bonding over their strong sense of justice and their shared love of DDR, before Janet revealed that she was the new Captain Ultra that had been on the scene for about four years. Adrian was conflicted, given that his father was accidentally killed by her predecessor, Adrian called off their relationship for a bit before rekindling it a year later after he became a sergeant. The two lived happily together for a year, going so far as to conceive a child together, before Janet made the decision to go public with her identity of Captain Ultra and take a brief hiatus from her duties as a hero so that she could carry her son to term. The family was allowed to live together for a stint before Adrian made the decision to move out with their son, Ethan, so that their lives wouldn’t be disrupted by Janet’s constant superheroics. During this time, they decided to open their relationship up for a bit and Adrian started exploring his sexuality. Their non-monogamous stint ended around the time of two major life events: Adrian realizing that he was gay and the coincidental coming out of Janet as a transgender man (now named Jacob). The two broke it off with their other partners and went back to monogamy while still living separately. Adrian eventually rose through the ranks of the NAPD and became the chief of their Bureau of Enhanced Human Affairs, resulting in him working closely with his boyfriend. Life seemed great for their little family.  Adrian was comfortably integrated into the White family, Ethan was brilliant and doing great things in his study of biochemistry at NAU, Jacob was at the top of his game, and Adrian was the de facto choice for the chief of NAPDBEHA for what should be the rest of his career. However, things took a turn for the worst when Jacob decided to spend one last day as Captain Ultra…
